On February 24, 2025, Princess Emem Ibanga was sworn into the State Executive Council and appointed as the Honourable Commissioner for the Ministry. Tasked with aligning state-level interventions with the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, the ministry is committed to fostering inclusive policies and impactful humanitarian initiatives.

The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Akwa Ibom State, offers a range of services aimed at humanitarian response, social welfare, and poverty alleviation. These services include:
Distribution of relief materials to victims of disasters such as floods and fire outbreaks.
Supervision of social protection programs, including conditional cash transfers for youth.
ARISE Business Equipment Support Scheme: Assisting small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
Construction and supervision of Compassionate Homes for vulnerable individuals.
